What is SEO?
Have you ever wondered why some of the pages ranked in the top of search engines like google,yahoo for a particular query and why are some sites at the bottom or ever listed.The reason behind that was lack of seo or bad seo practices called search engine optimization(SEO).

The first and most important thing you know about the search engines are that they are not humans hence they are not able to see who is the man in pics,videos etc but the text content inside pics,videos like alt tags,title tags etc may help the search engines to find what the pages are about.But with the advanceing in the web and technology now a days search engines can feel the quality,smell,cool design and enjoy the movements in videos.Although the text content in the site can plays a major role in crawling,indexing and finding what the pages are about by the crawlers and hence displays them in the search for a particular query.
The steps involved in the search engine may consists of the steps like crawling,indexing,processing,calculating relevancy and retriveing.

First of all search engines crawl the websites you submitted to see/find the information of your content and what the pages are about.This task can be done by a piece of a software called crawler or spider(ex: google bot in case of google search engine).The spiders may follow from one link to another that comes up in their way and index all the sites/links through the crawling process.
There are over approximately 20 billion of webpages in the present web market hence it is not possible to the spider to crawl your pages when a new page was added or any changes made to the existing ones. sometimes it takes about 2 months or more for a spider to crawl your new pages,in some cases even more time.So please be patience and try to develop content for your site.
The next step was to index the pages that are crawled earlier.The pages that are crawled can be indexed in a huge database where they may be retrived later.The process of indexing was identifying the keywords,text etc presented in the pages and make them in a order or ranking them according to different factors like links etc.For humans this process was quite complex but the search engines may done the job very well.sometimes indexing was difficult for search engines because of bad designing etc so i recommend that try to improve the navigation of your site in order to get indexed by spiders and hence improves your performance in the search engines.
The next step was processing i.e displaying more relevant and quality results for a particular search.This can be done by compareing the pages in the database by measureing quality,backlinks etc and hence displaying them in the search results page.This is the reason why some sites are ranked higher than other sites.The process of displaying relevant results for a particular search may be different for different search engines like google,yahoo,bing etc hence there is a variation in results page of different search engines according to their own indexing process.
The next step behind displaying search results was retriveing pages this is very simple as it was nothing but to display the pages in the browser that were processed and indexed earlier.

Google gives more value to the quality backlinks that was pointed towards your site i.e if you have more number of quality backlinks you site may be performed well in google's search results page.It also gives importance to the age of pages i.e old ones are more likely to get listed on their search results page.this are the major factors affecting results on google search engine.
For yahoo,bing:
The indexing process was similar in almost all search engines, there are still some small changes in indexing in different search engines.This may leads to large variations in different search engines performance.
Unlike google,yahoo and bing may give importance to on-page keyword factors which was quite opposite to that of google's indexing process.
Although if you implement good seo for your website/blog then definitely your site may perform well in almost all search engines.

Basically organic traffic was the the traffic for your site/blog that comes from search engines like Google,Yahoo,bing etc.In other words the traffic that comes to a website through unpaid sites like search engines may be considered as organic traffic.It was the natural traffic that pointed towards your site through some of directories,third party websites and from search engines.
why organic traffic was important??
organic traffic was one of the important traffic to your blog not only because it was a natural way traffic and also because of the following factors

- It connects your site with good number of visitors.
- More number of quality visitors can find about your site and thus helps in increasing your business and sales

The amount of organic traffic your site received depends upon number of factors like backlinks for your site,quality of the content etc It was a time consuming process to receive some amount of organic traffic to your site though it was possible to build a large number of backlinks in a short time period, i recommend you to ignore this type type of backlinks like paid backlinks because there was that your site may be penalized by the search engines and hence lots of traffic to your site may be losed instead try to improve the quality of content and do some seo(search engine optimization) and keep posting fresh articles/posts.
